The Nintendo DS Digital TV Tuner is a DS Terrestrial Digital Broadcast Receiver Card (TV tuner) for Japan's digital TV. It will be using a service called 1seg in Japan. A number of cell phones are capable of receiving the broadcasts also.
Not much is currently known about the card. The only information available is that the second screen of the Nintendo DS will be used to switch channels, and the top screen will be the TV broadcast and it's only being used for digital TV. The prototypes Nintendo had at the press conference were running via the Game Boy Advance cartridge slot, but the final version of the card will plug into the DS card slot. The TV tuner is schedule to release in November 2007 in Japan. It is still unknown whether the TV tuner will be supported in other markets that don't have digital TV.
